Pom Pom mushroom: a culinary insider's tip, because its taste reminds with an extremely wide spectrum of aromas of seafood with a citrus note. Pom Pom has been cultivated in China for a long time since it was also used in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). It is a wound parasite of old deciduous trees, especially oak, beech and fruit trees. It can be found on lying trunks, still standing trunks as well as on tree stumps. Its appearance is also unmistakable: its imposing fruiting body is covered with white to cream-coloured soft spines. This is also the reason for the term "hedgehog with prickly hair" used in the German-speaking world.
